Years back, studies showed that it was better for the government to remove its subsidy to the UASD and allow students to choose the private university of their choice. But the Fernandez government went ahead to expand the UASD, making millions of dollars worth of investments on an already wasteful platform. UASD graduates have a hard time finding employment in many careers.

On Wednesday, Administrative Minister of the Presidency Luis Manuel Bonetti said the government does not have money to increase the UASD budget allocation as its authorities are demanding and urged them to put better use to the funds they already receive and prevent it from becoming a "bottomless pit." The UASD has the most beneficial employee perks programs in the country.

Now new rector Mateo Aquino Febrillet denies there is wasteful spending at the UASD. As reported in Hoy, he said that of the 12,000 university professors in the country, the UASD has only 3,200 despite having half of all the university students. He said the UASD admitted 30,000 more students this year.

He argued that if the UASD is a public university, then the government should finance it. If it is not it should increase its fees. Most students at the UASD study for free.
