The Police report they have recovered the 14th Century musket that had been stolen from the Columbus Lighthouse last weekend. The man was identified as Freddy Vicioso, who is suspected of having left the musket in a plastic bag in El Farolito slum off Las Americas Expressway when he became aware the Police were on his trail. So far no one has been arrested and investigations are still in process. Diario Libre reported that former governor of the Lighthouse, Luis Yapur says the Police are covering up for someone. Yapur says the piece is valued at US$1 million and is the only one on exhibition in the Americas. The governor of the Columbus Lighthouse Jose Jimenez and the security director of the Japanese Embassy Tomoyuki Kadokura, returned the antique to the Japanese Room at the Lighthouse, as reported in Diario Libre.
