Donor countries and friends of Haiti met yesterday at the United Nations headquarters and committed to move from words to actions and increase efforts towards the rebuilding of Haiti. The initiative came as part of the Ministerial Meeting for Haiti, headed by US Secretary of State Hillary Clinton and her husband, former US President Bill Clinton, who is co-president of the Interim Haiti Recovery Commission (IHRC) created to coordinate work by donors in Haiti.
As reported in Diario Libre, Dominican Foreign Minister Carlos Morales Troncoso had called for donors to move from circumstantial donations to concrete contributions. Morales Troncoso confirmed the Dominican Republic's commitment to progress in Haiti.
