The transparency in the tenders for pharmaceuticals and sanitation materials to supply the nation's Public Health programs carried out by the Program of Essential Medicines (Promese) has reportedly attracted the attention of some of the free zone companies established in the country.
During a luncheon meeting hosted by Luisa Fernandez Duran, the chairwoman of the National Council on Free Zones for Exports, she announced the startup of a feasibility study for several free zone companies to participate under equal conditions with the other suppliers of Promese. Promese purchases in excess of RD$1 billion a year in medications and sanitation supplies. Listin Diario said that if this attracts enough attention, it is an opportunity for new businesses and more jobs.
