The magistrate for the Monte Plata court for Boys, Girls and Adolescents, Aura Mercedes Raquel Hernandez Caba, has annulled a birth certificate issued for the daughter of Puerto Rican drug capo Jose David Figueroa Agosto and his wife Leavy Yadhira Nin Batista, because the birth certificate had been obtained with false documents.
Magistrate Hernandez Caba said that her decision to annul the unnamed child's certificate was based on the fact that the child had been declared by the drug capo's brother Jorge Luis Figueroa Agosto and that he used a false identity for the child's mother. The mother's name was given as Fiol Jansen Rodriguez, but her real name is Leavy Nin Batista. According to El Nuevo Diario, the judge issued her decision after the Central Electoral Board requested the annulment of the birth registration. The child will now have to be registered and declared by both her parents under their real names. Figueroa Agosto, currently in jail in Puerto Rico, will be able to do this via a notarized statement, as will Nin Batista, who is in the Najayo prison.
