I thought they imposed fines already for DUI down there.

No more Viagra, LaPela, etc. and, as this article states, the driver is even "responsible for the drunkenness of their passengers", I'm starting to think I might have made a huge mistake buying a house there to begin with. I've recently put the house in POP up for sale in order to buy something closer to Sosua but, after reading about alot of the changes that have been going on there, I'm seriously starting to have second thoughts about buying another. This fuckin' place is starting to look more and more like the US.

This is dispicable. When I first saw this I did not read it all the way through. I thought this was only an open container law not the enforcement of DUI. Domincans not driving after having a few beers. The Pope will convert to Islam before that happens. Just another excuse to strong arm people for money. Trusting a Dominican police official to give you a true reading with an alcoholmeter is like believing in Santa. I wouldn't be surprise this all started because someone was offered a kickback on the equipment. The only hope we have is that someone else finds a buyer for the meters and sells them to a government that will use them for honest enforcement. This is fucking ridiculous and license to steal and intimidate. Talk about incidious.

Certainly not the states because the US continues to worsen in some respects. But, I guess my decision to start exploring other locations besides the DR was timely.
