New Nuclear Medicine Unit

The Plaza de la Salud General Hospital has announced the formal inauguration of its new state-of-the-art Nuclear Medicine Unit. The unit uses radioactive material to identify and treat cancer and other diseases. President of the board, Dr. Julio Amado Castanos Guzman, president of the board of the HGPS said that gammagraphy studies and radioactive iodine therapies would be carried out to treat thyroid pathologies at the new medical premises. The facility is expected to have a significant impact on the lives of people in the DR who will no longer have to travel abroad for these treatments.
