The Seventh Contemporary Dance Festival (Edanco) is under way at the Palacio de Bellas Artes in Santo Domingo. It will continue through 3 October.
Orestes Amador, Ileana Balmori, Dayme del Toro, Hamlet Bodden, Marianela Boan and Tatiana Mejia are representing the Dominican Republic. Dance companies Transit Dansa and Clavelmariblanca from Spain, Compania Nacional de Danza from El Salvador, Arteria from Italy, Delfos from Mexico and L'Explose from Colombia are coming for the event. The program includes neo-classical, hip-hop, Afro, jazz and flamenco dance, announced organizer Edmundo Poy. The festival will take place Monday to Sunday at the Palacio de Bellas Artes in Santo Domingo with performances at 8:30pm Monday to Saturday and at 6:30pm on Sunday. Tickets priced at RD$250 are available from I-Tickets, Boletos Avanza at Nacional and Jumbo supermarkets.
