Costalunga is now my first choice when it comes to choosing a hotel in Boca Chica. I like the rooms and the location. The hotel is in a quiet area, but still close to the beach and Duarte. I paid $45 per night during my stay (the rate is $40 per night for one person in a standard room, and they add $5 per night for the room if you are two registered people). I did not have a reservation when I arrived and the hotel was almost full. They only had one standard room available and I was informed at check in that I had to move to a different room after the first night because all the standard rooms were reserved the following days. It turned out that they moved me into a two bedroom apartment after my first night. They didn't charge me any extra for the room, I still paid $45 per night as I would have if I had stayed in a standard room. The rooms are nice and clean, I like both the standard rooms and the apartments. The rooms have safe boxes for your valuables, however the safe boxes are not large enough to fit laptop computers. See pictures below from the apartment.

There were three people working at the front desk during my stay: Miguel, Lina, and Yanira. They were all friendly and helpful. Miguel speaks some English, while Lina and Yanira only speak Spanish.

The hotel has a nice pool that during my stay was very well maintained.

The purpose of my vacation was to relax, take it easy, and see some friends that I hadn't seen in a long time. The hotel was full but there were never any loud and wild parties going on. I appreciated that the hotel was quiet. For other people who like to party all night long and are hardcore mongers, it may be a disadvantage that the hotel is quiet. I don't know.

Wow I'm blown away, this is exactly what we were looking for.

One last question, now think back...was there a good place to put the camera for secret recording??

From the pics, the closet looks like a winner ;)

Yes, an Italian restaraunt, nothing great but serves passable pasta, seldom eat there myself though. They have beer and drinks in rest. as well. I generally buy my beer at the supermercado and stick in fridge.

I cannot even begin to count the nights I have spent there and have never been w/o power for more that 2-3 minutes, they have a good back up system there.

Disclaimer: The restaurant seems to change hands often. The last time I ate there was about 6 months ago.

Marco, do you remember what room number this was? Most of the rooms don't have the long table and extra furniture.

And what about security?I'm not exactly sure what you mean. Like all places, they have a watcheyman. The sliding glass doors and windows on the bottom two floors have bars. They just added a front gate. (I don't think it's ever truly locked, it's more to keep the unwanted chicas out).

Does he check and hold chicas ID's?That's the normal procedure, day or night.

At night, it's possible to do a work-around if he knows the chica and she "forgot" her ID.

Yes, a few but not many. If you talk to Miquel or someone else there they will look around other rooms and find what you need.

Mario does not screw around with allowing chicas in his hotel without a Cedula. Why should he risk losing the hotel over some puta?

mpYou are right. Mario, his wife, or his sister-in-law do not mess around. I've heard stories that they've torn up cedulas when they think they are counterfeit.

On the other hand, Miguel and the watchman can be bought.
