President Fernandez returns

President Leonel Fernandez returned to the DR on Sunday after a weeklong stay in New York where he took part in the United Nations 66th General Assembly. At the assembly he proposed new mechanisms to combat financial speculation in commodities and to tax offshore savings. Fernandez traveled with First Lady Margarita Cedeno and other government officials, including Presidency Ministers Cesar Pina Toribio and Luis Manuel Bonetti, press director Rafael Nunez, Foreign Affairs Minister Carlos Morales Troncoso, and Economy, Planning and Development Minister Temistocles Montas. He returned at noon on a Delta Airlines flight.
