The National Meteorological Office (Onamet) reported today that weather conditions in the Dominican Republic continue to be affected by a low-pressure system located over the east of the island. This system brings clouds that will produce rain showers over much of the country, especially over the north, northeast, east, southeast, the central mountains and along the border. In addition, small craft warnings are in effect due to rough sea conditions along the north coast. Maritime operations in the area of Samana are to remain inside the bay. Onamet is monitoring the remnants of Ophelia, located to the northeast of the Leeward Islands and showing a high possibility of reforming into a tropical cyclone over the next two days. Onamet is also watching tropical storm Phillipe which is nearly 1,200 kilometers to the west of the Cape Verde Islands, and moving northwest at 11kph.
