In Sosua, a 31-year old German Roman Buchenauer is suspected of strangling his 29-year old Venezuelan wife Zuyin Rosmery Rivas and 10-year old daughter Natalia Buchenauer, before hanging himself. The bodies were found around noon yesterday in the Residencial Casa Linda, and the Police said they had been dead for about 15 hours. Puerto Plata Police spokesman, Colonel Jesus Cordero Paredes said the causes of the crime are being investigated. He reported that Buchenauer is also said to have killed three dogs and a cat in his fit of rage. He left a written explanation of the cause of the crime stating that his grandfather, Konrad Buchenauer, had depleted the family fortune. He said that he murdered his wife and daughter so that they wouldn't suffer because they depended too much on him for him to leave them alone in this world. In the letter he also leaves his Chopard ring valued at US$4,000, his Cartier watch valued at US$2,000 and a Louis Vuitton bag valued at US$700, asking for them to be sold to pay for the funerals. The foreigner had been living in the residential community, which is located between Sosua and Cabarete, for two weeks, as reported in El Caribe.
