President Leonel Fernandez has sent an acquisition order for the purchase of equipment that will block cell phones in the nation's three-dozen prisons and jails. It is contained in Decree 564-11, which was released by the Presidential Press Office last night. The President cited "National Security reasons" as part of the reasoning behind the acquisition of the equipment. The Dominican Telecommunications Institute (Indotel) was put in charge of the purchase.
