The United States Secretary of State, Hillary Clinton, will visit the Dominican Republic on 5 October to take part in the fourth ministerial meeting for the "Caminos para la Prosperidad" (Roads to Prosperity) initiative, and meet with members of the Fernandez administration. Clinton's one-day visit will include meetings with Dominican President Leonel Fernandez and other government officials and private sector representatives attending the meeting, said her spokeswoman, Victoria Nuland.
The initiative, whose last meeting was held in Costa Rica in March 2010, seeks to tighten the relations between the United States and the Latin American countries with which it has trade agreements. Representatives of Chile, Colombia, Costa Rica, El Salvador, Guatemala, Honduras, Belize, Mexico, Nicaragua, Panama, Peru, Uruguay and Canada will also be present at the meeting, said Nuland.
