The PLD-majority Senate approved a credit agreement between the Dominican Republic and the French Development Agency (AFD) yesterday for the amount of US$230,000,000 (RD$8.85 billion) which will be used to finance the Sectorial Urban Transport Policy Development Program in the city of Santo Domingo. The program includes the Reform of the Urban Transport Sector, the extension of the Santo Domingo Metro network, including the construction of Line 2 and the Restructuring of the Network of Buses in the integration of the Metro Network.
The senators also approved in one reading a legislative proposal that will facilitate access to justice for women and families who are victims of violence or in conflict. The legislation will make protection orders more efficient. Senate president Reinaldo Pared Perez submitted the new legislation.
