PAWA Dominicana is transporting Aruba, Curacao and Venezuela-bound passengers who were left holding tickets with no flights when Venezuelan airline Aserca announced it would no longer fly to the Dominican Republic. As reported in Hoy, the suspension of the route by the airline mainly stranded travelers who had come to vacation in the DR. Pawa Dominicana is using a DC-30 with capacity for 100 passengers to transport the travelers. Hoy says the airline will gradually return the passengers to their destinations. Aserca reported today that it is provisionally suspending flights to and from the DR because it "has had problems because of lack of authorization from the local civil aviation authorities.
