Rains will continue today

Heavy rainfall, accompanied by thunder and lightning and strong wind gusts will continue over much of the country today, according to the National Meteorological Office (Onamet) forecast. These weather conditions, according to Onamet, are caused by a low-pressure trough that was over eastern Puerto Rico yesterday and that in addition to the local effects, is causing a large amount of cloud cover and cloudbursts, electrical storms and strong wind gusts. Yesterday these conditions were more frequent in the northeast, east, southeast, southwest, the Cibao Valley, the central mountains and along the border. Temperatures will remain high. At the same time, Onamet continues to monitor tropical storms Ophelia and Philippe, both located out in the Atlantic Ocean.
