In his final year of eight years of government, President Leonel Fernandez has created to restructure the administration. By means of decree 566-11, he appointed an inter-institutional plan to draft a proposal for the preparation of a short, medium and long-term plan for the Dominican government.
The commission members are the Minister of the Presidency, Minister of Public Administration and the National Council for State Reform.
Article 3 establishes the commission has 180 days to present a project for the restructuring of the macrostructure of the Executive Branch, taking into account an integrated focus that covers all aspects of the legal framework, methods and procedures used in public administration. The President says that the plan is aimed at improving public services in terms of coverage, quality and response time to the demands and citizen needs. It will focus on all levels of government n decentralized, autonomous, institutes, regulators, companies, programs and others.
The Presidency says that the growth in government entities has made it difficult for the government to define its public policies, as reported in El Nacional.
