In what is seen as the last straw in rising crime in the country, Hoy carries the story of a priest who was robbed during confession. "This is indicative of the significant deterioration of society. But what has happened to me is an understatement. Many churches have been desecrated and the Blessed Sacrament chalice thrown on the floor when they realized it was not gold!"
Father Carlos Santana said the man stole his Blackberry and the money he had on him after the confession at Casa de Emaus. He said that he never suspected the man who asked the priest to hear his confession after mass and after the absolution gave the priest a hug and at that moment the priest suspects he stole his cell phone and cash, as reported in Hoy. The priest said that, "when fear of God is lost, all is lost."
The priest is Santiago Archbishop Benito de la Rosa y Carpio's assistant.
