The V Foro de Competitividad de las Americas opens in Santo Domingo, on Wednesday, 5 October at the Jaragua Renaissance Hotel with a program that includes contributions from the President of Panama Ricardo Martinelli, who is visiting for the first time, and President Leonel Fernandez. The event will continue through Friday, 7 October and is being organized by the National Competitiveness Council, which is headed by Andres Vanderhorst Alvarez.
Leading officials from regional organizations like Organization of American States Secretary General Jose Miguel Insulza, managing director of the World Bank Sri Mulyani Indrawati, Banco de Desarrollo de America Latina corporate vice president Liliana Canale, Inter-American Development Bank private sector vice president Steven Puig, Economic Commission for Latin America and the Caribbean (ECLAC) Executive Secretary Alicia Barcena, dean of the INCAE Business School in Costa Rica Roy Zuniga.
The First Lady of El Salvador Vanda Guiomar Pignato is also attending and Dominican First Lady Margarita Cedeno is scheduled to speak at the event.
Former Presidents of Costa Rica Jose Maria Figueres and former President Nicolas Ardito Barletta of Panama will be taking part.
As reported, more than 20 ministers of economy and industry will participate in the forum, including Pablo Longueira Montes of Chile, Francisco Jose Rivas Almada of Paraguay, Sergio Diaz Granados of Colombia and Anabel Gonzalez of Costa Rica.
Private industry and trade leading businessmen will share their knowledge at the conference.
