The National Meteorological Office (Onamet) is forecasting scattered rain showers for most of the country today. The showers, which are expected to be brief, will occur mostly in the northeast, southeast, central mountains and along part of the border. These rains are caused by the winds from the east-northeast bringing clouds in from over the ocean and the rising heat from the surface will cause the showers to fall.
Onamet reports that tropical storm Philippe is some 1100 kilometers to the southeast of Bermuda and does not represent any danger to the Dominican Republic.
