Franklin Leon, president of Cerveceria Nacional Dominicana, the Presidente beer brewery, has announced the start of production of Presidente beer in Campden Park, St. Vincent at the St. Vincent Brewery Ltd, with a capacity to produce 100,000 hectoliters of beer and forecast sales of US$14 million a year. The brewery is the market leader with 78% of the market with their Hairoun brand.
The production is part of the company strategy to penetrate the Caribbean market. In an statement made yesterday, Leon announced that the company has a presence in 14 US states and 20 Caribbean islands, as well as distribution in Germany, Spain, Italy and Switzerland. "Our goal is to position Presidente as the true taste of the Caribbean," said Leon. He added that they were seeking to be a top selling brand in Dominica, Antigua, Trinidad & Tobago, Jamaica, Suriname, Guyana, Barbados and St. Vincent that make up 70% of the beer market in English-speaking Caribbean (Caricom nations).
