President Leonel Fernandez and First Lady Margarita Cedeno inaugurated yesterday the V Competitiveness Forum at the La Fiesta Theater of the Jaragua Renaissance Hotel. US Secretary of State Hillary Clinton spoke at the inaugural of the conference that gathers representatives from 31 countries.
In his opening words, President Fernandez highlighted the importance of quality in education and the training of the labor force to meet new economy challenges. US Secretary of State Hillary Clinton acknowledged that "education" is the hot topic and that she is pleased to see the DR leading the region in promoting competitiveness.
Jose Miguel Insulza, Secretary-General of the Organization of American States said, "We understand that competitiveness goes beyond national borders and can be strengthened with cooperation amongst our countries."
