The Chief Justice of the Supreme Court, Jorge Subero Isa, warned yesterday that the poor conditions in which the Justice Department is working could cause the system to burst. He said that, "We are really on the edge of bankruptcy and what I fear is that some movement for workers' demands can spring up from the judges within the system. Remember that there are four judges associations... and that neither the President, the Vice President or the Council itself can control the outburst by the judges." He said that the money invested in the Judicial System is more worrisome than the working of the system itself.
The Chief Justice pointed out that there were other issues pending, but the fact that the judges had been promised an increase in salary was foremost. He noted that the safety of the judges was at risk because neither the Justice Department nor the Police nor the Armed Forces have the money to pay for the men and women needed to protect the judges.
