The Chamber of Deputies has decided to honor two great Dominicans, the television commentator, producer and personality, Yaqui Nunez del Risco and Dr. Rafael Cantisano Arias. Nunez del Risco is one of the most respected commentators and a pioneer in the early years of television broadcasting in the Dominican Republic, with his program "Cultura con Sabrosura", part of the viewing routine for almost every household with a TV set. He provided sound, educational television and was an example of how the spoken word should be used, as he taught generations of television journalists and reporters.

Dr. Rafael Cantisano, now 83 and still practicing medicine, has devoted his life to helping others. He was one of the founders of the Centro Medico Cibao in Santiago. He was the first president of the Dominican Medical Association and is a former president of the Dominican Red Cross. One of the little known aspects of his life is his passion for the preservation and conservation of "El Castillo," the first permanent European settlement in the New World, where Columbus had a house and where the first Mass was said in the Americas.

The legislation honoring these two distinguished men for their service to the Republic was initiated by Juan Rosario and Juan Carlos Quinones.
