All today's newspapers list the streets that will be closed for the Abbas visit on Friday, 7 October. Diario Libre reports that the official visit by the president of the Palestinian Authority, Mahmoud Abbas, will begin tomorrow, forcing the closure of several streets and avenues around the Presidential Palace from 10am until 3:30pm and from 6pm until 11pm. The streets that will be affected are the intersections of Doctor Delgado with Francia, Pedro Henriquez Urena with Galvan and Rodriguez Objio at the corner of Galvan. Also the intersections between Cesar Nicolas Penson and Delgado, Doctor Baez and Cesar Nicolas Penson, Uruguay and Cesar Nicolas Penson and Manuel Maria Castillo with Uruguay will also be closed. The Presidency apologized in advance for the inconvenience and advised drivers to use alternative routes.
The Abbas visit was formalized before Fernandez and Abbas' participation in the 66th United Nations General Assembly in New York City last month. One of the main issues of debate in the UN was the entry of Palestine as a member nation.
