HanesBrands in the Dominican Republic announced their Green for Good program to provide volunteer assistance and financing for community improvement projects and disaster relief in the country. According to El Nuevo Diario the Green for Good will help communities take care of their basic needs, financed through the recycling of the byproducts and scraps from the Hanes factories manufacturing processes. Hanes has collected millions of dollars for Green for Good projects since its startup in Central America two years ago. The company recycles cloth, wood, metals, plastics and cardboard. These resources are used in projects to improve health, education and infrastructure for development, as well as for stockpiling disaster relief supplies. The project also includes volunteer work by Hanes employees.

In the Dominican Republic, the company runs aid programs under the Green for Good initiative in Santo Domingo, San Pedro de Macoris and Bonao, in the areas of health and education. For example, the program will fund the refurbishment of the OR at the Pedro E. De Marchena Hospital in Bonao and the Manos Divinos Children's Shelter and Orphanage in Santo Domingo.
