Palestinian Authority president Mahmoud Abbas is expected in Santo Domingo today, arriving around noon. He will hold a working meeting with President Leonel Fernandez and he will receive a decoration from the Dominican government shortly after. His afternoon agenda consists of meetings with the senators and deputies and a gala dinner at the Presidential Palace.
Speaking during a press conference in Santo Domingo, US Secretary of State Hillary Clinton disputed the legal status of UNESCO, as only an auxiliary body within the UN, to decide on statehood on the Palestinian bid for membership.
