Ministers of economy, finance and industry and commerce of the Americas meeting in Santo Domingo for the V Competitiveness Forum signed the Consensus of Santo Domingo on Friday, agreeing to implement general competitiveness principles. The principles were reached through consensus between high-level authorities and competitiveness councils meeting of representatives at the Annual Meeting of the Inter-American Competitiveness Network (RIAC) under the V Competitiveness Forum.

The principles favor quality education, strengthening of institutions that are effective in promoting competitiveness, transparency in government administration, priority to human capital development, development of modern and efficient infrastructure, innovation as a determining factor for competitiveness, improvement of access to capital of productive sectors, promote corporate social responsibility, social inclusion and gender equity.
