Young activists have announced a first Dominican "indignados" march to protest actions of the government. The young campaigners, taking their cue from Spain's Indignados movement, said that economic and social measures taken by the governments in recent years do not favor society, and protested the government refusal to allocate 4% of GDP to education, as mandated by the law. Paola Then, a spokesperson for the new movement, said that the campaigners would assemble at the Parque Colon in Santo Domingo on Saturday, 15 October as of 10am. On that day, young people will take part in a coordinated global protest in 300 world cities.
