The Ministry of Public Works, in coordination with Ede-Este will close the Las Americas tunnel tonight, 13 October, in order to work on the lighting in the tunnel. The work will begin at 10pm tonight and continue until 6am tomorrow morning. The tunnel will be closed in the east-west direction so that Ede-Este technicians can work on the lighting and electricity cables, as thieves have stolen the wiring and the lighting fixtures in other areas and that might be the case in this instance. The case of the tunnel on the 27 de Febrero Avenue is similar and the workers will start replacing the lighting in the middle of the tunnel where it is the darkest. The decision to work jointly was taken at the highest level by Minister Victor Diaz Rua of Public Works and Celso Marranzini, executive vice president of the CDEEE.
