El Caribe lists the foreign political strategists advising the leading Dominican candidates in the 2012 presidential campaign. In a report by Yanessi Espinal, El Caribe reports that the PLD presidential candidate is using the services of Brazilian Joao Santana, who was behind the political success of former President of Brazil Luiz Inacio 'Lula' da Silva, current President Dilma Rousseff as well as President of Peru Ollanta Humala. He is said to have devised the slogan: "Continue what is right, correct what is wrong, and do what has not been done." Santana is being paid 50-90 million pesos, according to El Caribe.

PRD candidate Hipolito Mejia has chosen Inmido Larrazabal and Xabier Jimenez. As reported, they had advised Mejia to keep a low media profile. Nevertheless, El Caribe reports that the slogan "Llego papa" (Dad's here), that took off locally, is attributed to locals and that it spontaneously happened in La Vega.

Minister of Foreign Affairs Carlos Morales Troncoso, leading pre-candidate for the PRSC, is said to be advised by Richard Benn of the US and Anabella Rodriguez of Panama, both said to be responsible for the new PRSC campaign "Sumate" (add yourself.

As reported, President Leonel Fernandez has hired the services of advisors Mauricio Bengoechea and Eduardo Gamarra, who have worked with several Latin American campaigns and are advisors at the Latin American Association of Political Consultants and partners of the Inter-American Management Center in Miami.

Former presidential candidate Miguel Vargas is said to have spent RD$100 million on advisory services of Roberto Isulieta of Ecuador, and Marcela Berland of the United States, and Irving Faccio of Puerto Rico.

El Caribe quotes political consultant Wilson Rodriguez who estimated that a foreign consultant could cost 5-10% of the total of the political campaign. The financial advisor for the Danilo Medina campaign estimated the campaign will cost RD$900 million, and thus the advisor will make 50-90 million.
