The government has announced that there will be 60,000 more people admitted to the Solidarity Program, which will reach 600,000 families shortly. Vice President Rafael Alburquerque said that many of the families that had been cut off from the program have regularized their status and have been readmitted.

This comes at a time when the Central Bank was citing a 1.6% reduction of poverty.

Interviewed by Hoy reporter Adalberto de la Rosa at the Presidential Palace, the Vice President said that the government will have RD$11 billion for the subsidy program, and that each family is evaluated through the Unique System of Beneficiaries, which identifies the real needs of each family. Alburquerque said that the program stimulates the parents to send their children to school and get them vaccinated.
