Dominicana Moda 2011 recognized the first Dominican top model, Omayra Mota (of X-Men fame) and the first Dominican "fashion designer" in Farah Cabrera yesterday evening in the opening of the week-long fashion event. Fashion runs by Jenny Polanco (showing her work dating back to the 80s, 90s and 00s to her present 2012 spring collection) and Leonel Lirio opened the event. Dominicana Moda is organized by Socrates McKinney, Mirka Morales and Fidel Lopez.
This year, the fashion show includes a trade show on the grounds of the Hotel Embajador open from noon to 10pm and on Friday and Saturday through 11pm, in addition to the fashion runs that are scheduled into the evening.
