The National Drug Control Department (DNCD) has reported the arrest of 31-year old US citizen Richard Michael Spelman who operated as a supplier and vendor of imported marijuana. He sold Platinium Kusk, Platinum Og, Lavender and White Widow marijuana, reportedly imported from California and Florida. The DNCD said that the drug had a 10-12% concentration of Tetrahidocanibol, which reportedly increases the risk of suffering from Alzheimer's disease or mental illness.
As reported in Hoy, Spelman had been living in the country for some time now, at the Hotel Cita del Sol in Cabarete. DNCD agents arrested him at the Metro terminal in Santo Domingo. A search of his hotel room showed up several "joints" with the potent drug that reportedly sold for more than US$100 each.
As reported, Spelman flew in and out of Puerto Plata, Santiago and Las Americas airports up to twice a month. Major General Rolando Rosado Mateo ordered an investigation to establish why he had not been detected when passing through those terminals.
