Residents in the southwest, mainly San Cristobal, Bani and Azua are benefitting from the active calendar of events at the new Centro Cultural Perello. On Friday, 21 October at 7pm, the Youth Symphony Orchestra presents a concert conducted by Professor Darwin Aquino. On Thursday, 27 October, Celsa Albert Batista will give a talk: The Trujillo process and its effect on Dominican culture." On Saturday, 29 October, and 5, 19 November from 9am to 1pm there are creativity workshops for children in painting, music and handcrafts. On Friday 25 November there is a meeting between young musicians from Bani and visiting musicians from the Spanish National Orchestra. On Thursday 15 December, the National Ballet presents the Nutcracker Suite.
