The National District Prosecutor Office has arrested Sandra Mendez Delgado, wife of the suspected head of a network thought to be responsible for several ID forgeries at the Central Electoral Board (JCE), the agency in charge of IDs in the Dominican Republic. Her husband Felipe Omar Achecar is suspected of links with illicit activities along with a group of former JCE employees. According to the Prosecutor Office, Mendez herself was using a forged identity, as reported in El Caribe.

The report says Mendez's alternative identity was Sandra Jovine Acosta, said to have links with a Dominican who is in jail for drug trafficking crimes in Italy.
