Rent, the rock musical by the late Jonathan Larson, based on Giacomo Puccini's opera La Boheme will be staged at Bellas Artes in Santo Domingo over the weekend of 11, 12, 13 November. It tells the story of a group of impoverished young artists and musicians struggling to survive and create in New York's Lower East Side in the days when AIDS was prevalent. On Broadway, Rent was praised and won a Tony Award for Best Musical along with other awards. The show is one of the top 10 longest running Broadway shows.
The DR show is being produced by Carolina Rivas and Luichy Guzman. The cast list is Javier Grullon, Carolina Rivas, Hector Anibal, Techy Fatule, Tony Almont, Laura Lecllerc, Frank Francisco and Juan Luis Espinal. Tickets are RD$2,200, RD$1,800 and RD$1,200 at tickets.do and from the Palacio del Cine at Blue Mall and Bella Vista Mall, as well as from Bellas Artes.
