The Dominican Republic's first Olympic gold medalist, hurdler Felix Sanchez won bronze in his 400-meters hurdles event at the Pan Am Games in Mexico. Mariely Sanchez also won bronze in the 200m dash, and Manuel Fernandez took bronze in bowling. The DR, which has won 25 medals in the event so far, is ranked tenth with 5 gold, 3 silver and 17 bronze medals.
