According to the Tax Office (DGII), as of yesterday, 31 October, less than 50% of all car owners have renewed their registrations (matriculas), and the deadline is Friday, 11 November.

Constant announcements on the main radio and television programs inform the public where and how to fulfill this requirement. There are still three days left for filing the application via the Internet. They bring the document to your door at no extra fee! According to statistics from DGII, 1.2 million vehicles need to renew their registrations and so far, as of yesterday only 407,000 have done so. It is noteworthy that 370,000 have done it in person, by going to any of the nearly one thousand locations (any Savings and Loan, and ADEMI or Banco de Reservas branch), and only 37,000 have done it over the Internet.

Payment can be made by credit card and for vehicles up to 2006, the fee is RD$1,200 and from 2007 to 2012 models the fee is RD$2,200. All that is required is a photocopy of the vehicle's registration and a photocopy of the cedula of the applicant (it does not have to be the owner of the vehicle).
