Political parties have rallied round the request made by representatives of the Catholic Church to the Central Electoral Board (JCE) about the crisis created by the resignation of the head of the Computer Center, Miguel Angel Garcia. At the same time, JCE president Roberto Rosario reiterated his resolve to await a formal request from one of the political parties, since he is in agreement with the position of the Church. According to Diario Libre, Rosario said that "once I receive a request about anyone, then I can proceed and put it on the agenda."

At the same time, PLD candidate Danilo Medina said that the JCE has to find a "harmonious" solution to the problem. Both Cardinal Lopez Rodriguez and Monsignor Agripino Nunez Collado have called for a solution to the crisis.

Civil society group Citizen Participation issued a statement saying that the problem could be solved by firing Franklin Frias, a move that was requested by the late former President Joaquin Balaguer in 1999.

PRD spokesman Hector Guzman said that the PRD would not accept Frias in the same way that Rosario did not accept Garcia. Guzman said that Rosario admitted that he had forced Garcia out of the JCE.
