In the continuing process of winnowing the candidates for the Constitutional Court, the National Judicial Council (CNM) interviewed 14 hopefuls yesterday evening. According to El Caribe, this was the fourth session of interviews conducted by the panel that is chaired by President Leonel Fernandez.
The chairman asked the candidates to please reduce their presentations to the minimum in order to have more time for questions. Even so, several of the candidates had to be interrupted by the Council and asked to cut short their litany of good works. On Tuesday, 15 candidates had been scheduled to appear but only 11 could be interviewed due to time constraints.
Last night's questions covered everything from monopolies in a state of law to appeals on weekends, as well as other constitutional issues.
