Milwaukee Brewers Baseball Club officials, including general manager Doug Melvin, were in Ramon Santana, a municipality northeast of San Pedro de Macoris, to inspect their new training facilities. The academy is owned by former Brewers reliever Salomon Torres, who runs three such facilities and will oversee day-to-day operations under the supervision of his Towers Corp.
Milwaukee's facility features two baseball fields, batting cages, bullpens, a clubhouse and a weight room.
The new complex has two baseball fields, batting cages, bullpens, a clubhouse and weight room, plus 13 rooms of housing, classrooms and a cafeteria.
The Milwaukee Brewers announced that next season they will move to the San Pedro de Macoris division of the rookie-level Dominican Summer League, joining affiliates of the Angels, Braves, Blue Jays and Tigers.
The facility was previously occupied by the Texas Rangers.
