Wednesday, 9 November is the date of the closing concert for the 2011 season, which also commemorates the 70th anniversary of the National Symphony Orchestra. The Ministry of Culture, and the Orchestra will have as invited guest Ilya Kaler, the only violinist who has won gold medals in the Tchaikovsky (1986), Sibelius (1985) and Paganini (1981) music contests.
"All Shostakovich" is the name of the concert that symphony director Maestro Juan Antonio Molina has prepared with works by the great Russian composer. The program includes: "Festive Overture Op. 96", "Concert No. 1 for Violin and Orchestra". The concert will close with "Symphony No. 5 in D Minor Op. 47".
