Six of the people who wrote the 1963 Constitution, the first Constitution after the death of dictator Rafael Trujillo, and often considered a model of liberal constitutions in general, have been awarded the order of Duarte, Sanchez and Mella with Large Silver Cross and a lifetime pension of RD$50,000. The recipients are Aristides Victoria Jose, Arturo Guillermo Muniz Marte, Marino Villanueva Callot, Jose del Carmen Victoria Jose, Jose Enrique Dorrejo Espinal and Manuel Emilio Ledesma Perez. They were members of the Constitutional Convention that wrote the Constitution in 1963 after the election of Juan Bosch. Presidential Decree 676-11 says that the awards are for "civic responsibility, which made the Constitution of 1963 a reality."
