The occupation at the Liceo Republica de Argentina (the Republic of Argentina High School) is over. As reported in all of today's newspapers, the campaigners calling themselves Los Libertarios left the school that they had occupied on Sunday night after the Minister of Education agreed to repair the building, which is located in the city's Colonial Zone. A mediating group headed by the former president of the Dominican Teachers Association (ADP) and Father Pablo Mella succeeded in convincing the Libertarios to leave the school after spending an hour going over the document that contained the demands of the movement.

While the group also called for the assignment of the 4% of GDP that is supposed to be given to the Ministry of Education, they also demanded the immediate repair of the school, which was in bad need of painting and repairs to the bathrooms.

Minister of Education Josefina Pimentel said that representatives from the Department of School Buildings would visit the school this morning and meet with some of the members of the student movement. The Minister said that she thought that the demands for the school repairs were justified.
