Tropical Storm Sean that has developed midway between Bermuda and the Bahamas with winds of about 50mph is said to be the cause of high surf along the north coast. The Weather Department (ONAMET) reported waves of between 8 and 10 feet.

The storm is nearly stationary and the five-day tracking forecast shows it heading generally north and east over the Atlantic, possibly brushing Bermuda at the end of the week.

The storm has caused high surf along beaches in Puerto Plata and Maria Trinidad Sanchez provinces. The Weather Department is advising owners of small craft to stay in port.
