The Tigres del Licey are in first place after defeating the Gigantes del Cibao 5-1 with Hector Noesi pitching six shutout innings and Engel Beltre hitting a homerun. In La Romana, Osiris Matos did some wonderful relief work and the Toros del Este shutout the Aguilas Cibaenas 5-0 in a game played at the Francisco Micheli Stadium. And in Santo Domingo's venerable Estadio Quisqueya, the Estrellas Orientales defeated the Leones del Escogido by a score of 6-5. The victory puts the Estrellas in the fight for the fourth spot in the standings.
