Senator Amilcar Romero's office was damaged last Thursday when gunmen riding by in a pickup shot more than 100 bullets at the facade. The vandals also set ablaze a truck loaded with rice parked in the parking lot outside the building where the Senator's office is located on Calle 27 de Febrero in San Francisco de Macoris. The attack occurred at around 11pm, but the senator was in Santo Domingo at the time and no one was injured.
Senator Romero described the attack as an "irresponsible and shameful act of vandalism." He said that besides the material losses, the damage to the community has been worse.
