More than 90 builders and real estate companies are will be participating in the Construmedia Construction Fair at the Dominican Hotel Fiesta in Santo Domingo from 24 to 27 November. The fair comes on the heels of the National Furniture Fair 2011 under way at the Ciudad Ganadera on the Malecon in Santo Domingo until 20 November. Now in its 20th year, the furniture fair features discounts of 10-30% on furniture sold by more than 100 exhibitors over an area of 10,000 square meters. The fair is organized by the Association of Furniture Manufacturers (Asonaimco). Yury Chez, president of the organization, said that customers could still buy furniture made mostly of wood in the Dominican Republic, as opposed to the 90% synthetic wood, 10% wood variety sold by international chain stores.
